Ten pledges from Margaret Hanson - campaigning to be Labour’s Police and Crime Commissioner Candidate
If selected as Labour’s candidate for Police and Crime Commissioner, I pledge to;
- Do all I can to protect our police service and oppose further central Government cuts to North Wales’ police grant;
- Reinvigorate the Community Safety Partnerships created by Labour when in government so that we prevent crime and have more visible policing;
- Make preventing anti-social behaviour and domestic abuse two of my top priorities for action;
- Ensure victims are supported more effectively and put them at the heart of all I do;
- Respect the operational independence of the police, whilst setting clear outcomes for them to achieve and holding them to account when they do not;
- Deliver value for the money raised from our community for policing through local rates and national taxes;
- Value all staff whose work contributes to the delivery of policing in North Wales;
- Keep you updated about both my work and that of the police, so that I remain accountable for the way in which I fulfil this role;
- Hold regular public meetings, liaise with local councils and the Welsh Government, and other key service providers in our region so that I stay in touch with the concerns of all those whom I will seek to serve;
- Be on the side of the community not that of the criminal;
